House in Poe’s Garden / Chennai – Floorplans & Construction photos 01

The previously featured house in central Chennai’s (<click here for original post>) has by now progressed to the form work for the 2nd slab. The process has been slow/will be slow as the site is relatively small, the neighbourhood rules regarding construction disturbance are quite strict and the contractor is not compromising on the quality of the work due to time pressure …

We effectively started in January 2012 and hope to finish the civil work by January / February 2012 (Insha’ Allah) and have then a few more months to concentrate on and complete the interiors …

Posted here are the latest floor-plans (as of September 2012) as released to the site and some photographs of the on site work …

The GFC (Good For Construction) drawings for the first two levels … Car park, services, foyer and landscape on the ground floor, the living and dining areas, kitchen and utilities and a bedroom on the floor above.

The 2nd floor holds all bedrooms and a home office whereas the roof terrace gives space for an entertainment room and a large landscape roof garden …

The overall site with the casting work for the Ground Floor columns going on … The narrow width of the site made the construction sequence quite a challenge and was one of the reasons the work proceeded relatively slow …
